What Data We Collect

Account Information

When you sign in using Google or Apple, we receive and store:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • A unique user ID

Sign-in is required to sync your data across devices.

Bookshelf & App Data

To provide core functionality, we store:

  • Your book library and reading lists
  • Shelf decorations and equipped shop items
  • Extra shelves and layout preferences
  • Book notes

Reading Session Data

If you choose to use Reading Mode with session tracking, we store:

  • Time spent reading
  • Reading speed
  • Session history

This data is entirely optional and only collected when you actively use the Reading Mode timer.

Subscription & Purchase Information

Shelfie! offers a premium subscription — available as Monthly, Yearly, or Lifetime plans — which unlocks all shop items, Reading Mode, book notes, and extra shelves.

Our payment partner RevenueCat processes and stores:

  • Your subscription plan and status
  • Purchase dates and renewal history
  • A device identifier to restore your subscription

We never see or store your payment card details. All transactions are handled securely by Apple and RevenueCat.

Device Information

RevenueCat collects a device-level identifier to manage and restore your subscription across devices.

How We Store Your Data

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database platform. Supabase servers are located in data centres managed by Amazon Web Services. You can read Supabase's privacy policy at supabase.com/privacy.

How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect solely to:

  • Authenticate your account
  • Sync your bookshelf, notes, and reading data across devices
  • Manage and restore your premium subscription
  • Provide reading analytics within the app

We do not use your data for:

  • Advertising or marketing
  • Selling to third parties
  • Tracking across other apps or websites

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you
  • Request a copy of your data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and all associated data

You can delete your account and all your data directly within the app at any time through Settings. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all your data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

Subscription and purchase records may be retained by RevenueCat as required for transaction integrity.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
